Knowle & Dorridge 2nd XI made it 3 wins out of 3 on Saturday as they beat Walmley by a comfortable 130 runs at Station Road.

Walmley captain Nathan Hill won the toss and put the home side into bat. Joe Barnett (74) and Chris Kenny (54) put on an excellent opening partnership, setting the innings up nicely for the middle order before the pair were both dismissed by Walmley's Ian Schmid (2-59). Ben Griffin came in at 3 following a half century last week and batted very well for his 36. He was accompanied shortly after by Will Rigg, who pushed the innings on before falling for 38 to Woods (3-54). The home side continued to score boundaries as Ollerenshaw (12) and Evans (18*) enjoyed quick cameos towards the end of the innings, bringing the total to 253-8 after 50 overs.

Knowle and Dorridge confirmed the signing of Chris Cheslin last week, who opened the bowling on debut and began in fine fashion. Cheslin struck in the first few overs as Nicholas (4) was caught at short extra cover. The away side's opening batsmen Alex Gower (52) and number 3 batsmen Onkar Chagar (40) put on a very mature partnership which put Walmey in good stead to win the game, but after Chris Kenny (1-17) took the wicket of Chagar and Gower fell shortly after to Cheslin, the match was turned on its head.

Charlie Rowe came onto bowl and took 3 wickets in quick succession as Walmley's middle order began to collapse. The away side looked to block out the remaining overs, but K&D continued taking wickets as Baker (1-1) dismissed Chagar for just 4 and with an array of fantastic slip catching, both Cheslin and Rowe took the remaining wickets, bowling Walmley out for 123 and finishing with figures of 4-35 and 4-26 respectively.

Alec Baker, K&D captain commented: "It's great to be back to winning ways after our slow start. We've been fantastic in the last few weeks and our performance with both the bat and ball have taken us from near the bottom of the league to now just 20 points off top.

"Joe and Chris batted beautifully today and our middle order played professionally to get us to a strong total. I thought Chris and Charlie then bowled excellently and the lads really stuck to it in order to turn the game round, despite Walmley being 80-1 at one stage. We travel to Moseley next week for what will be a tough fixture and a good test for us."
