K&D taste T20 glory once again

Knowle & Dorridge beat Attock and Midland Lankans to triumph in the Arden Sunday League T20 Final Days at Leamington.

K&D recorded T20 success once again by winning the Arden Sunday League competition on Sunday 3rd August at Leamington.

Finals day teams consisted of K&D, Sutton Coldfield, Attock and Midland Lankans. K&D drew Attock in the semi final, with K&D winning a close game by 11 runs after posting 218 batting first. In other semi final, Midland Lankans chased down an impressive total of 218 against Sutton Coldfield.

In the final, K&D posted a huge 230, batting first, with good knocks from Tom Smith, George Worker and Joe Barmett. In response, Lankans never really got going and finished on 125/8, with good bowling performances from Jack Tyler, Charlie Rowe, Nick Sale and Harrison Chambers.

T20 Captain Tom Smith explained:
“It was a great performance by the team in the two games we played on finals day. The lads played some really positive cricket throughout the tournament and we beat some strong such, as Shirtley and Attock, to get to the final. We were able to blend youth and experience and I’m thrilled we’ve finished as champions.

“We are proud to win another trophy and we hope to see a few more at Station Road by the end of the season. We thank Leamington CC and the League for putting on such a great tournament.”

About Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club
Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club was formed in 1896 and are one of the foremost cricket clubs in the Midlands. The club is situated between the ‘villages’ of Knowle and Dorridge on Station Road, Dorridge, Solihull, West Midlands, and the second ground is situated on Lugtrout Lane, Solihull.

The club currently run 4 teams on Saturdays and 1 team on Sundays and has one of the strongest junior sections in the area In 2017, K&D are running junior teams at under U9s x 3, U10s x 2, U11s x 3, U12s, U13s, U14s, U15s x 2, U17s and U19s. K&D also run U11s and U13s girl’s teams.

The club has a strong community presence, with the club being open all year round and is open to new and existing members. Over the next 3 years, club priorities are on increasing adult participation, community engagement, junior development and improved infrastructure.
