Knowle & Dorridge cruise to victory over Brockhampton as Worker and Phillips put on incredible display.

Knowle & Dorridge bounced back after a disappointing defeat to Kenilworth Wardens last week, with an emphatic 297 run victory over Brockhampton on Saturday.

Brockhampton won the toss and decided to put the away side into bat. Knowle & Dorridge welcomed New Zealand international and overseas professional for the 2017 campaign George Worker into the side, who opened the batting with Alex Phillips.

The pair put on an outstanding display with an opening partnership of 305. Worker made an impressive 183 from 136 balls on debut, which included 27 four's and 6 sixes, before he was dismissed by Brockhampton's Dominic Badger. Alex Phillips scored an unbeaten 182 from 148 balls with 24 four's and 2 sixes and was supported by Ateeq Javid who joined Phillips at the crease to add 21 runs to the board, before K&D skipper Sam Reddish called the pair in to declare the innings at 399-1 from 50 overs.

Brockhampton have made a slow start to the season with just 1 win in their opening fixtures and this continued as the home side were bowled out for just 102 in reply. Knowle & Dorridge opening bowler Henry Brookes got the away side off the mark with the wickets of both Brockhampton opening batsmen. Brookes finished his spell of 7 overs with figures of 2-31. Fellow opening bowler Will Mottram (1-32) then dismissed Brockhampton's number 3 Joe Crichard, who top scored with 33. Ateeq Javid and Ben Brookes took the remaining wickets, with Javid bowling 6 overs and taking 2 wickets for just 23 runs, but it was Ben who stole the show with the ball, who took Brockhampton's final wicket of Oliver Rogoff to complete his spell of 5.5 overs with figures of 5-15.

Knowle & Dorridge captain Sam Reddish commented, "After the disappointing defeat last week we were determined to get back to winning ways on Saturday, so to come away with the win in the manor we did showed a great deal of character from the lads. We welcomed George Worker this week and it was a real please to watch him and Alex bat. The range of shots the pair played in their opening stand of 305 was superb.

"We knew at the half way mark that only half the job was done, and to take home the maximum points from the game we needed a performance from the bowlers as well and that's exactly what we got. I thought Henry, Will and Ateeq bowled excellently for us but Ben's spell was outstanding. Our performance on Saturday sent a message to the league and we look forward to continue this form as we make the short trip to Dorridge next week."
