2nd XI vs Brockhampton match report

nowle & Dorridge 2nd XI made it two wins out of two after their 7 wicket victory at home to Brockhampton on Saturday. K&D captain Alec Baker won the toss and put the away side into bat in the first of this season's 'Win-Lose-Draw' round of fixtures.

Adam Williams opened the bowling and showed an array of skills with the new ball. After some unfortunate drop catches, Williams took the wicket of Brockhampton's opening batsmen James Mokler who top scored with 76 and completed his spell of 10 overs with figures of 2-44. Charlie Rowe (2-17) and Chris Kenny (1-31) dismissed the away side's next 3 batsmen with some excellent catches behind the stumps by Ben Griffin. Alec Baker joined the party and took 2 wickets for 48 runs from his 11 over spell and when Gareth Davies (1-8) took the final wicket, Brockhampton were bowled out for 170 in just 41 overs.

Knowle & Dorridge played very sensibly to take away 20 points from the fixture, knowing they had almost 60 overs in the second innings to chase the required total of 171. Opening batsmen Joe Barnett (28) and Chris Kenny (23) got the home side off to a good start before wicket-keeper Ben Griffin scored a very professional 57 coming in at 3. In the 41st over skipper Alec Baker (37*) and Gareth Davies (9*) hit the winning runs to complete the innings and take the score to 171-3.

Knowle & Dorridge welcome Walmley to Station Road next Saturday, hoping to keep the winning run going and climb back up the table after a slow start to the season.
