Junior Cricket @ K&D CC 2012

It is really exciting to think that a new cricket season is shortly upon us.I know from a great number of you who attend Winter Nets that we will soon be approaching the point where we all cannot wait to get outside and put to use the hard work put in over the winter.

Last season was another great period for the Club’s Juniors; record numbers of members; great success from the Under 9s winning the title for the fourth year running to the Under 17s reaching the Cup Final; more players than ever also representing the Midlands, County, District and Knowle & Dorridge C.C senior sides.

Knowle & Dorridge C.C have also acheived a reaccreditation in the ECB Clubmark qualification. This means that Knowle & Dorridge C.C continue to maintain high quality safety and safeguarding standards as well as remaining a focus club for the Warwickshire Cricket Board.

From a Club point of view, the Nets Project is on target to be in place before the season starts with a lot of hard work from a lot of people, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated to the net appeal and I'm extremely excited at the prospect of the new nets. The philosophy of the Club to focus on supporting its Junior Section to anchor the long term prosperity of the Club is a fantastic opportunity for all of the Juniors who join us.

It does mean however that you will see some slight changes to the registration terms this year as we aim to develop specific projects for the Juniors this year.
This includes projects such as electric scoreboards and repairing and maintaining the nets at Lugtrout Lane.

A voluntary donation of £10 would be fantastic from each of you towards the above. If you are happy to do so, please add this to the membership fee. Please note this is voluntary and not compulsory but would make a huge difference to Knowle & Dorridge C.C to continue to maintain and develop high quality facilities.

If anyone wishes to complete a direct debit to pay a voluntary amount over the season then please click here.

Knowle & Dorridge C.C Seniors had a very successful 2011 season, the 1st XI finishing 5th, 2nd XI finishing 2nd, 3rd XI finishing 2nd and gaining promotion as well as winning the 20/20 cup and the 4th XI finishing 5th. A number of juniors are playing weekly senior cricket and I would encourage all junior members to attend Knowle & Dorridge C.C home fixtures whenever possible to support your team.

Knowle & Dorridge C.C have continued to increase the number of teams entered to ensure that as many of our juniors as possible play matches. We will organise extra U11's, U13's and U15's fixtures to ensure all Junior cricketers play competitive cricket. Team Managers will contact parents directly to communicate match details.

Wet Weather

Occasionally Junior Coaching sessions will be cancelled due to unsafe ground conditions. We cancel these sessions to maintain the safety of the children and to ensure that there are no major injuries.

If junior coaching sessions are cancelled a decision will be made between myself and head groundsman Ian Maddocks, a notice will be posted on the juniors page of the Knowle & Dorridge website (www.knowleanddorridgecc.co.uk ) .

Please can I ask everyone to familiarise themselves with the Knowle & Dorridge C.C website and in particular the juniors page and noticeboard and can I ask that everyone uses this tool before contacting me as I wont be able to answer everyones calls or messages in the event of wet weather.

Regular updates will be posted on the Junior page throughout the day to keep everybody informed. At times this decision will not be made until 5pm to ensure maximum drying time.

Coaching sessions will be added onto the program in September if we have to cancel many sessions. Details will be emailed to everybody in this case.

If you have any questions please do not hesistate to contact me on 07886 689 941 or email davo909@talk21.com .

I look forward to meeting everyone at registration evening and lets all hope that the 2011 season is a very dry and succesful season for Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club.

Many Thanks

David Smith
